At the trial of C, M and G upon charges arising out of shopbreaking, a tape
recording of a police interview with M was played to the jury. C, M and G were
all convicted. The tape recording contained a statement by a police officer to
M relating to the prior criminal activities of C. The tape recording was
played once only and was difficult to hear and understand. No objection was
taken by C to the tape recording at the trial.
