An offence of exhibiting for sale sheep affected with foot rot is committed under s6(1) of the Sheep (Foot Rot) Act 1956 if sheep are at any time exhibited for general sale so that any person, and not only those persons referred to in s6(2) and s6(3) of the Act, may buy them. It is not defence to a charge under s6(1) that such sheep, having been exhibited for such general sale, are later sold to the persons mentioned in s6(2) and s6(3).
