The Act No. 502, sec. 23, was not intended to confer on a person convicted of felony or misdemeanour, any right to apply for a new trial or to have the judgment amended which he would not theretofore have had. Its object was to regulate the practice in delivering and entering judgments on trials for felonies and misdemeanours in cases in which it was previously necessary that a rule should be entered on the postea before judgment could be pronounced by the Court.
